Required Qualifications

• Associates Degree or equivalent in
Mariculture, Marine Science or Aquaculture
Related field with 3-5 years of experiences
in finfish, shellfish and other marine
species production and management;

• Experience in small scale research of
aquaculture/marine science area;

• Computer literate and familiar with
publications software;

• Must be able to demonstrate excellent
written and oral communication skills in

• Able to organize and complete multiple
tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented

• Proficiency to work under strict hygienic
standards in a laboratory like environment;

Essential Duties

1. Supports daily, weekly, quarterly and
yearly research obligations.

Supporting Activities:
• Monitor spawning and grow out of marine species by direction of the researcher;

•Assist in the development and culture of algae;

• Assist the researcher on documenting
information and data for a research project;

• Assist in the collection of wild marine species and brood stock;

• Assist researcher seek funding from local, national, and international funding

• Assist any research programs that
addresses RMI’s needs to improve the aquaculture-related production and food security.

2. Assist in implementation of experiential
learning to students and clientele.

Supporting Activities
• Provide and coordinate schools’ tour with advice of the researcher;

• Supervise research studies by direction of the researcher;

• Must be able to transfer knowledge to local counterparts;

• Provide tours and information to
dignitaries, students and visitors

3. Collaborating roles
Supporting Activities
• Working independent following a weekly
schedule of responsibilities;

• Work closely with aquaculture staff from
CRE program and local agencies;

• Required to travel to outer islands/atolls
on research related activities;

• Provide updates to the researcher;

4. Research supporting duties
Supporting Activities
• Communicate needed maintenance works on electrical, plumping and others for CMI Physical Plant attention & Researcher.

• Assist and execute necessary maintenance work under supervision and independent.

• Required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, early morning and late night depending on the nature of the project and needs of clientele;

• Capability to lift heavy loads;

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquaculture Researcher.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Cooperative Research and Extension (CRE) Aquaculture Scientist, Research Assistant will supports and assist the researcher and all operations of the CRE program at CMI Arrak Campus, Majuro, Marshall Islands. The incumbent will assist the researcher in implementing program’s plans, organizes and conducts aquaculture workshops, meetings, demonstrations and presentations in the villages, as well as in the island/atoll that supports CMI and CRE’s mission.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Mariculture,
Marine Science, Oceanography or related f
field from an accredited college/university;
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in
hatchery related works.

Supplementary requirements:
• Operating boats or willing to learn;
PADI dive certification or willing to gain;
• Operating and handling of power tools;
• Fiberglass works or willing to learn;
• Valid driving license;
